Secrets. Greed. Two baddies this time, both failed crusaders: think of Aeden the hero as the caped anti-crusader! One baddie has become a gangland boss, while the other (from book one), boasts a feudal title: anger drives each of them to get his hands on four amulets that make up the riddle that could save the West. Medieval London in the winter of 1199 becomes the scene of devious triangulation threatening to derail the quest of Aeden and his travelling fayre.
